This concept has largely gone by the wayside as troop counts are getting far too large in recent years for a singular spearhead to be of any major benefit. However under that general principle a spearhead is intended to clear out support troops and leave the archers more vulnerable. This is the new purpose of the arch rain and will often take multiple arch rains to fully clear out support troops. Prior to sending a trade fire you will use arch rains to clear support troops. For a trade fire to be effective the only support remaining must be workers, warriors, scouts and mech. Send as many arch rains as needed to clear horses, pike and sword. If they heal between the arch rain and your TF then the TF goes splat.
